Meet: Anthony Clemons

Tell us a little bit about yourself...
My name is Anthony Clemons. I’m 31 and living in Portland,Oregon. I’m from Kansas City, Kansas. I’m currently studying to become a master personal trainer with a few specializations.
 
What is something about you that we might be surprised to know?
I'm also looking to compete in a natural physique show. Coronavirus made that a little difficult this year, but I’m still training, and as soon as we can do so safely, I plan to hop on stage and dominate!
 
What inspired you to begin your fitness journey?
I’ve worked a myriad of jobs, but my passion has always been fitness. It started when I was a kid. My mom bought me a set of dumbbells, and I just embraced the fit lifestyle.
Has your motivation changed? If so, what continues to motivate you to move forward?
Chasing my personal training dream has taken me all over the country, from Kansas to Nebraska to Alabama and now Oregon. I’ve been almost homeless twice, but I never gave up and kept chasing my dreams and I’m probably in the best shape of my life right now.

What is the best thing that has happened to you as a result of prioritizing your health?
The best thing that’s happened to me due to fitness would be moving to Oregon. I’ve had a chance to set some roots down and start to really focus and hone in on my craft,

If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?
If I had to say one thing to my younger self would be to get your training certification right after high school, lol!

How do you fit exercise into your schedule?
I work out 6 days a week before I go to work. It can be difficult depending on my schedule, but if I have to get up early or go really late, I’m not opposed because gains are life!

What is your favorite way to exercise?
My favorite way to lift is free weights. I like to make squat, bench and deadlift programs .
 
What is your favorite meal, healthy or not so healthy?

Since I’m plant based now, I’ve grown quite fond of Beyond Burger® and tater tots.

What is on your fitness playlist?
My playlist has a lot of underground rappers like SimxSantana and FBG Duck.
